SPN @ SDCC2015

This past week was the annual San Diego Comic Con. I like to refer to it as my week of hell…ONLY because I have never been able to go and because I am bombarded by SDCC pictures, videos, tweets, and everything on all my social apps! Haha. It sucks for me, but it looks like everyone else had fun. I’ll just have to try to keep getting tickets year after year.

Anyways, I enjoyed watching both the SPN panel and Nerd HQ Q&A.

Supernatural SD Comic Con 2015 Panel:

Present: Jeremy Carver, Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard, and Andrew Dabb

Moderators: Rob Benedict and Richard Speight

The first thing I noticed about the SDCC panel was that all the Funko Pop figures were Crowley. I’m sure Mark was ecstatic because last year, he didn’t have one, haha. I loved the question about Charlie and the panel’s reaction to it. Jeremy never did give a really good answer, haha. And the rest of the panel just kind of left Jeremy to fend for himself. Jared’s reaction to finding out about the Always Keep Fighting candles was very sweet. Oh, and the hamster was hilarious. I found out that the hamster actually got it’s own twitter handle: @HamsterSpn . Hahaha. Ruth Connell was there in the audience, which I thought was cool. Only a handful of people actually got to ask questions, which I thought was kind of sad, but maybe that’s the norm.

Nerd HQ Supernatural Q&A:

Present: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Mark Sheppard

Moderator: Aisha Tyler

I like Zachary Levi’s Nerd HQ Q&As. He puts so much work into it and into his charity. Anyways, this was a lot of fun too. Jared got to meet a guy taller than him and felt what Mark usually feels when being around taller people, lol. I found out what fantail candy was. A unicorn had trouble speaking with a microphone. And Jared nearly made me cry talking about stuff. Haha.

Anyways, enjoy watching them all.

Hope I get to go to SDCC someday and see it all live lol.

Katsucon 2015 Haul, Loot, and Booty

  1. Cat Poro
I’ve always wanted a poro! This was the only cute one I could find lol.
  2. TARDIS Mini Top Hat
I can wear it with my Doctor Who outfit XD
  3. Black Foam Wings
I got this from Yaya Han‘s booth. I thought it’ll go great if I want to dress up as Castiel lol.

  1. Sheep, Llama, and Rabbit
Hahaha. I’ve been hearing about these Amuse stuffed animals everywhere and I got to buy some lol! Sho cute! (CutiePieKawaii)
  2. Teemo’s Mushroom and Vi Figure
From Level Up Studios. I wanted a nice Jinx figure, but no one’s released one that I like yet! I used to play Vi a lot. A couple of my first characters were Sivir, Sejuani, Caitlyn, and Vi.

I also got artwork from Missy Pena. I love the pokemon/classic art mashups XD

Katsucon 2015

So I went to the National Harbor on Thursday to go pick up my badge from pre-registration and, boy, am I glad I did! It was about an hour long wait, but when I came back on Friday, I heard that the wait was nearly 4-5 hours long! I have nooooooo idea why! I was just so glad I got my badge earlier. Lesson learned.

Also another lesson learned? Get a hotel room even if you only live like a thirty minute drive away. It was horrible having to get up every morning, drive, find parking, and then navigate the con. I like the idea of getting dressed up and just going downstairs, lol. Maybe I’m just lazy. But it’s also because I can’t cosplay at home and drive. I get too many questions and stares.

I did manage to dress up in some Doctor Who (10th Doctor) stuff for one day. I love my shoes and tie! And of course my sonic screwdriver! I did get fitted for hobbit ears at the merchant hall. it didn’t go with my Doctor Who clothes, but I didn’t care! I love my ears! My ears are small so it was just great having someone show me how to modify them and glue them on to fit correctly.

Of course, the cosplays are always great. I love to people watch. I have a somewhat nice DSLR camera so people always ask if I have a website or something. No, I’m not a photographer. Not even a wannabe. I just like taking pics with my DSLR.

(Cosplayers: Bumblebee/???, Elsa/Dejavudea, Anna/???, Thranduil/Rattle-and-Burn, Legolas/Peppermonster, Tinkerbell/???, Mahouprince, Tooth Fairy/???, Jinx/Emzie)

Okay, I’ll admit it. That monster looks really, really, really familiar to me, but I can’t remember from where!! LOL!!!

The Chalk Twins were there and it was my first time seeing them. It’s amazing what they can do with chalk. I never really work with chalk or pastels or charcoals much. Lol, probably because I don’t want to clean up afterwards.

I saw a bunch of Castiels when I was leaving XD Supernatural peeps! I can’t wait for the Salute to Supernatural convention in July XD

Anyways, Katsucon was great. I’m definitely going to get a room next time so I can enjoy it better!

2015 Convention Lineup

Here is a list of the conventions I’m going to go to this year:

  1. Katsucon

I hadn’t been to an anime convention in a while so I chose this one. Hopefully, I’ll see great cosplay! I know one of my favorite cosplayers will be going, MangoSirene. Maybe I’ll get to take pictures of some good cosplayers. I’m going to bring my DSLR and test it out ^_^ . Oh, and I hope I get to buy some great artworks!!! My favorite parts of conventions are the vendors’ room, the artist alley, and the people-watching XD
  2. HobbitCon3
    Hobbit Con III logo 2015
This will be my big trip of the year and possibly of my life. I’ve never been to Europe before, but I planned for this to be my geek pilgrimage or something, haha. I only had time and money to go to Germany and England, but I’m going to try to see so much in just two weeks!!! Castles, beer halls, Hobbit Con, bicycle tours, The Making of Harry Potter London Studio, Dr. Who Experience, London National Gallery, and all the typical, touristy London sites.

  3. Awesome Con

I loved this convention last year. Haha, probably because I was accidentally one of the first people to get into the Billie Piper panel. “Accidentally” because I saw this random line forming so I figured “why not”, hahaha. I also got to use the TARDIS photo booth! XD This convention has grown huge in about a year. It had about 7,000 attendees two years ago and last year there were 40,000 attendees. It was crazy! I have NO idea how many people will attend this year around.
  4. Salute to Supernatural – 10th Anniversary
    Salute to Supernatural logo 2015
I love Supernatural, but I’ve never been to one of these Salute to Supernatural conventions because of their location. Hopefully, it’s fun. The cast seems crazy, but fun hahaha. I’ve gotta draw some artwork for this convention for autographs.
  5. Anime USA

Last minute addition! I figure that since this was easy to get to, I’ll be going! Hopefully, it’ll be fun. I’ve never been to this one before 🙂

I’ll be posting pictures, tweets, igs, and etc. while I’m at the conventions themselves so be on the lookout for those, I suppose. I wanted to go to other conventions too, but sadly, I just don’t have all the time or money in the world. I hope I can go to them next year in 2016 though!

  1. Calgary Expo This popped into my head and I thought “why not”. I’ve never been to Canada and the expo seems fun 😀 Will try next year.
  2. Fantasy Con I wanted to go to this one so bad this year, but I’lll just have to try for it next year.
  3. SD Comic Con I tried SOOOO FREAKIN’ HARD to get tickets to this!!! I actually had four different tickets or numbers or whatever to try to get into the online waiting room for the tickets, but alas, no luck!!! I was depressed for quite a bit….but I’m hoping my Europe trip will make up for it 😀
  4. NY Comic Con I had been going to this convention every year, but unfortunately, this year, I can’t, lol. It was New York vs Europe and I chose Europe hahaha. But this is a great con to go to.
  5. Otakon This was my first convention EVER (2008)! So I have some good memories. Unfortunately, the hotel cost just wasn’t worth it this year.
  6. CTN Animation Expo I love this expo. I might actually try to make it since it’s at the end of the year and I might have enough money by then XD

Other cons that I might also think about for future attendance: VidCon and WonderCon.
